• Quantified Impact: Are your wins backed by numbers (percentages, dollar amounts, team sizes, timeframes), or are you describing duties? Numbers create memory; duties create boredom.
• Ownership Language: Do your bullets use verbs that prove you executed (led, built, shipped, drove), or passive phrases that suggest you watched things happen (responsible for, helped with, involved in)?
• Scannability: Bullet points outperform paragraphs. Short bullets outperform long ones. The recruiter is skimming on a phone in between meetings — make it easy.
• Skill Clarity: Recruiters search their inbox by keyword. If your specific skills aren't visible in a clean block, they won't find you.
• Length & Density: Too short reads as inexperienced; too dense reads as unable to prioritize. The 400-700 word window is the comfort zone.

The Three Reasons, Demystified

Each diagnostic returns three reasons specific to your resume — but across thousands of evaluations, three patterns dominate:

1. The recruiter can't place you in the first 6 seconds. No headline, no positioning line, no clear target role. The reader has to do the work to figure out who you are. Most won't.
2. You're describing your job, not your impact. “Managed a team of engineers” tells me your title. “Led 8 engineers, shipped 3 zero-to-one products to $40M ARR” tells me what you delivered. The first goes in the no pile; the second goes in the interview pile.
3. Your language sounds passive. “Responsible for” and “helped with” suggest you were in the room when things happened. “Led” and “built” suggest you made them happen. Recruiters can tell the difference and they hire the second person.
